How we review
We're a review aggregator, and we say so. We don't claim to have tested a product unless the guide says exactly what we did and when.
Each guide brings together published expert reviews (linked), buyer ratings from sites like Trustpilot, G2 and the app stores (linked and dated), and our own price and feature tables built from each provider's website on the date shown. Then we give a verdict and say who each option is wrong for.
Research and first drafts are produced with the help of AI tools. Every guide is checked and edited by a person before it is published. The byline on every guide is the MBD editorial team, edited by Robert Thomas.
Who the guides are for
The reader is a person running a business largely alone, in the United States unless the page is marked as a UK guide. UK pages use £ and UK sources. Everything else uses $ and US spelling. A tool that suits a 50-person team and is a poor fit for one person loses to the reverse.
How a comparison is built
- We start from the job, not the category. A guide opens with what the tool has to do for one person, and the candidates are judged against that. "A spreadsheet is enough" is an acceptable answer.
- Prices and features come from the provider. Figures are dated, because vendors change them. Where a number is a range, the guide says so.
- We name who should not buy. If a guide never says who an option is wrong for, it has not done the job.
- Guides show a date. The month on the page is the published date we have on file. A substantive update changes the updated date. If something is stale, tell us.
Where the money comes from
Some links are affiliate links. They may pay a commission at no cost to you. Recommendations are chosen before that is considered. Guides that contain affiliate links say so at the top, and the disclosure policy is public.
What we will not do
No payment for placement, no vendor-written review presented as ours, and no reordering of a comparison because of commission. Nothing on this site is legal, tax or financial advice. Where a question needs a professional, the guide says so.
